Archie Carl Pierce attended The University of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate. He obtained his law degree from The University of Houston Law School in 1974. He distinguished himself in law school as a member of the Houston Law Review and the Order of the Barons (the highest honorary legal scholastic society at the University of Houston Law School).

After graduating from law school, Pierce returned to Austin to work as a briefing attorney for the Court of Criminal Appeals. Within a short time, he became an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas. In this position, Pierce prosecuted a number of highly publicized criminal cases throughout the Western District of Texas in San Antonio, Austin, Waco, Midland, Del Rio and El Paso. His most notable trial involved the successful drug prosecution of Jimmy Chagra after the assassination of Judge John H. Wood, Jr. In his career as a prosecutor, Pierce participated in over 30 jury trials in the U.S. District Court and made over a dozen appearances before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Pierce joined Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder in 1984 as a trial attorney. He joined with the ten partners and 17 other associates from the Austin attorney office of Stubbeman, et al. to form Wright & Greenhill in 1985. His trial practice is now concentrated on the civil side of the docket defending all types of personal injury and damage claims.

He was elected to shareholder in 1988 and has represented Wright & Greenhill clients in over 50 jury trials in state and federal courts. Pierce is Board Certified, Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Personal Injury Trial Law. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) which is an invitation only organization comprised of distinguished trial attorneys.

Pierce was born in Bryan, Texas, in 1949 and reared in the Houston area. He resides in Austin with his wife, Jo Pierce. He has one daughter, Sara, who is a recent graduate of the Univeristy of Texas at Austin.
